Susanna Weiss is a mindfulness meditation teacher, trauma therapist in private practice, and the Executive Director of the Community Meditation Center in New York City. She and her husband are also part-time residents of Santa Fe.

Susanna began in the arts with a 25-year career as a modern dancer, touring world-wide. In 2013, while traveling in Burma, Susanna was in a near-fatal plane crash, which led to her writing a book about healing from trauma. She then began studies to become a Somatic Experiencing Trauma Practitioner.

Susanna also found a deeply healing process when she discovered the art of painting in watercolor. She experienced insights and awareness that seemed to bypass her “thinking brain” and go straight to her heart. The tranquility and calm that arose within while she painted began to restore her sense of presence, so damaged by the trauma and ongoing injuries of the crash. Susanna shows her work in New York and Santa Fe.

Susanna believes that connecting to art, as either the creator or the viewer, is not a matter of good or bad, right or wrong. It is a journey of imagination and expansion, an individual adventure that can open doors to new wonders and possibilities.
